Dermal Facial Fillers
Dermal Filler Treatments
As our skin ages, the volume is lost in our face and neck, as the subcutaneous fat starts to sink, resulting in a tired, sunken and lined face. Dermal fillers are an injectable treatment where tiny doses of hyaluronic acid are used to lift, plump and rejuvenate the skin, restoring the lost volume whilst preventing sagging skin. These treatments produce instant results and can last from 12 to 18 months.
Differences between Dermal Fillers and Botox
Whilst Botox works to reduce muscle activity in the face to allow the surrounding skin to smooth and reduce wrinkles, dermal Fillers fill deflated areas with hyaluronic acid to stimulate collagen and elastin growth, as well as lifting and plumping the skin for a youthful look.
Deciding between botox and filler will depend on the type of wrinkles you want to reduce. Botox is the better choice for dynamic wrinkles that occur when the face is making expressions, in areas such as the forehead. Fillers are better for static wrinkles, such as when your face is relaxed and making no expressions, as these sunken areas will benefit from the fullness provided by fillers.
Whichever kind of procedure you choose, both offer very effective forms of treatment to reduce signs of ageing and help you maintain a youthful appearance. At Hampton Clinic you can book your complimentary consultation to help decide which procedure is best for you.

Areas That Will Benefit from Dermal Fillers
Cheeks And Temples: Injections into the cheeks and temples will help to lift any sagging areas and tighten loose skin throughout the whole face. Marionette lines (lines that run vertically between the mouth and the chin) and nasolabial folds (lines that run from the edge of the nose to the outer corners of the mouth) can be treated directly, but often treating the cheeks will lift this area. Individual fine lines and wrinkles can also be smoothed out.
Lips: As we age, our lips thin out and develop fine lines. Small injections can be used to subtly plump your lips and renew the youthful look of clear, defined lines. You can also choose to have a fuller lip or keep your lips their natural size whilst just firming up the border and rehydrating the body of the lip.
Tear Trough: The Tear Trough is the area between your lower eyelid and cheek. As we age, we lose the volume in this area, which can often cause dark circles, as well as hollow and sunken eye areas. You can significantly reduce these fine lines, in addition to getting rid of dark circles.
Noses: Also known as the non-surgical nose jobs or non-surgical rhinoplasty, these injections can be used to minimise/smooth out bumps, restructure nostrils and straighten crooked noses to improve your nose profile. A new but subtle look can be created easily and quickly.
Jawline and Chin: Fillers are an amazing way to shape your jaw and chin area by softening the appearance of jowls and strengthen weak chins to create a stronger jawline. The aim of fillers is to naturally replace the lost volume and restore your face to its original youthful glow. If your concerns are regarding a double-chin, coolsculpting might be a better option.

How many sessions will I need for Fillers?
Each treatment is tailored to the individual. Someone who has aged more, will require more filler. Sometimes it helps to plan a staged treatment with a treatment every 3 months until the desired result is achieved. With significant ageing, this is like putting in the foundations to start with, then as time goes on, we can build on these.
Am I suitable for having Fillers?
We would not recommend treating anyone who is pregnant or breast feeding, or who is immunocompromised in any way.
What areas can be treated with Fillers?
Crows feet, frown lines, forehead lines, temples, cheeks, smoker’s lines, Marionette lines, nasolabial lines, lips, chin, décolletage, hands.
Can I sleep on my face after having Fillers?
Filler sets within 20 minutes, so it won’t do much harm if you do sleep on your face. If you can sleep on your back it will make your filler last longer. Sleeping on your face, will age the side you sleep on more rapidly.
What are the possible side effects of Fillers?
Bruising, swelling and tenderness are common. Swelling usually settles within 24hours, bruising may take a few days, but can be covered with make up the next day. Infection is always a possibility whenever the skin is injected, this can be an early infection i.e. within the first week after treatment, or it can be delayed presenting 6months later with a nodule. A very rare complication of filler is vascular occlusion.
All medical treatments have the potential of risks and complications, this is why it is so important to have highly skilled medical professions doing your treatment who are equally equipped to deal with problems if they arise.
I don't want to like unnatural, with a pillow-face or trout pout, is that possible?
If you can see someone has had filler, it hasn’t been done well. All filler should look natural. The aim is to restore you to your old self, not make you into someone you are not.
What type of fillers do you use?
The two most popular filers used in our clinic are Juvaderm Vycross range by Allergan, and the Belotero range by Merz. Other products can be used on request.
