Plasma Pen Treatments
Soft surgery (plasma) is a revolutionary, safe and non-surgical way of reducing loose or excess skin, and is often used for effectively treating heavy, or hooded eyelids. Traditionally this has been treated through a blepharoplasty operation, a surgical treatment carried out under local or general anaesthetic. Plasma Pen is an innovative treatment that uses plasma energy.
There are 4 states of matter, solid, liquid and gas. When gas is ionized it forms plasma the 4th state of matter. Plasma is a very intense form of energy, it creates a spark like a bolt of lightning. The Plasma Pen, ionizes surrounding gas, creating plasma – a very precise high energy spark, which we use to burn away unwanted tissue, such as excess eyelid skin and moles, or even loose skin on the neck. The treated tissues undergo sublimation (transition from solid to gas).

Before & Afters
Open GalleryFrequently Asked Questions
Is it painful?
It is not a pleasant treatment, the high energy sparks feel hot. The treatment is tolerable with strong anaesthetic cream. The downtime afterwards is also challenging, as you can be very swollen and scabby. You do need to allow a good week of hiding away, or wearing large dark sunglasses.
Am I suitable?
In some cases, you may have too much excess skin, and the doctor may recommend that you consider surgery. We would not want to treat you if you were pregnant.
How often can I have a treatment?
It is important to fully heal between each treatment session, ideally it is best to allow 2 months. The skin should no longer be red or pink.
Are there any risks?
The biggest concern is pigmentation. When the scabs have dropped off, the skin underneath is pink baby new skin. This is more delicate and will be more sensitive to light. It is essential to wear SPF 30+ for 3 months after the procedure, whatever time of year. You must not pick the scabs which can also risk pigmentation.
