October 18th marks Menopause awareness day!

This is a time of life at which we meet many of our lovely clients, and so it’s a subject close to our hearts. It can be a trying time, and we feel the changes inside and out.

We’re so pleased that there’s been so much more focus on this important topic in recent years. After all, it affects 50% of the population.

It’s a privilege to help ladies through this change, and support their physical and mental wellbeing.

So, what are some of the ways that the menopause can affect us?

Weight gain

Changes in hormone levels are often responsible for ‘middle aged spread’ or weight gain around the abdomen. For this reason, we use Coolsculpting to treat many ladies in their 40s and above, complaining of excess fat in this area which seems resistant to diet and exercise.

Coolsculpting targets this unwanted fat, and safely freezes it away, with results comparable to liposuction. This life changing treatment is permanent, safe and highly effective.

Collagen levels

Collagen is what makes our skin bouncy, youthful and resilient. It’s scary to learn that collagen levels drop by 1% each year from the age of 18, and more sharply from the time the perimenopause begins. However, don’t despair… so many of our treatments are focused around promoting better collagen production; Profhilo, Tixel, Microneedling, Morpheus, Fractora and Ultherapy all stimulate your body’s natural processes to create better collagen and elastin.

Want to boost your levels further? Invest in a collagen supplement from ZENii, available from both of our clinics.

Intimate health changes

Over time, we can experience changes to our intimate health. Childbirth, natural ageing and the effects of the menopause can cause vaginal laxity and stress incontinence which can be inconvenient and embarrassing. Falling estrogen levels can also lead to vaginal dryness.

We treat all of these concerns with Votiva, a painless radiofrequency treatment with excellent results, including external aesthetic improvement!

It’s important to prioritise your wellbeing now, more than ever. Dr Hill’s sister, Dr Sally Bell is a private GP specialising in women’s health, menopause and HRT using conventional and bioidentical hormones. She works from our Hampton branch once a month.

Consultations with Dr Hill are free, without obligation and in the strictest confidence. Call us on 01675 760644, email treatments@hamptonclinic.co.uk or book your appointment online.
